SJ sees what does not quite fit.
Where others encounter a problem and begin looking for an answer, SJ is often more interested in the assumptions beneath the question. The pattern nobody has connected. The contradiction everyone has learned to work around. The detail that appears insignificant until it changes how the whole situation is understood.
The work begins where the accepted explanation stops being enough.
That way of seeing is not simply a methodology SJ learned. It is part of how SJ is built. Twice-exceptional, autistic and gifted, SJ has spent a lifetime noticing patterns, connections and discontinuities that others can miss, then finding ways to make what has been hidden visible and useful.
Sometimes what emerges is structural. Sometimes it is personal, relational, strategic, cultural or something less easily categorised. Sometimes the real issue exists in the space between a person and the system around them.
Little Red Notebook is the practice built around that way of seeing.
SJ works with individuals, leaders, teams and organisations carrying questions, tensions or problems that the obvious answers have not resolved. The work is not about applying a predetermined framework. It is about finding what is actually happening, making sense of it, and turning that understanding into something that changes what happens next.
A decision. A new direction. A redesigned system. A different way of working. An intervention. Sometimes something that did not exist before.
Across more than thirty years in government, corporate, health, education and community sectors, SJ has worked at every level from frontline delivery to acting chief executive, and has twice received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.
That breadth matters. It has exposed SJ to people, organisations, systems and problems from radically different vantage points, and to the recurring distance between how things are supposed to work and what is actually happening.
SJ's approach is curious, direct and uncompromising about the inquiry.
